PVR Wire

1. I called Dish, and they told me the receiver was 199. I asked about this free box and the guy told me he had no idea where I heard that, but that it was invalid. So, is this a new deal that hasn't taken effect yet or should I call back and ask to speak with someone else?

3. Currently, Dish give you a $20/mo. rebate for 10 mos. for programming. That will disappear Feb 1 and be replaced by the $199 instant rebate on the DVR. So, instead of your discount being spread out over time, it is upfront so you have no cash out of pocket...but higher programming costs.

4. Just to clarify, when you said that the $20.00 rebate will disappear after Feb 1, are you saying that the HD DVR I have from DN will be mine and I do not have to pay leasing charges?

5. I had called to ask about this package a few nights ago and was told that it would not be available until Feb. 1st. However, I received a call today from DN and was offered the free HD DVR AND the $20 per month discount for 10 months! This would have included one month free and a 30 day money back guarantee had I committed to sign up for an 18 month package. I waived the free month ($29.99 with the $20 off) so I wouldn't have to sign the contract. It's scheduled for free installation in two weeks (They wanted to do it sooner but I was unavailable next weekend and did't want a weekday installation).

6. I got the free HD DVR deal as well, called Dish and actually quoted Airik's post, I told the sales rep "I saw this post on the internet..." He put me on hold for a few minutes and came back and said "yeah, we can do that". However, I did get charged a $49.95 activation fee (could have been waived with 18 month contract) and they will not do the install until after the 1st of Feb (something about the free DVR promotion).

7. Anyone know if this new offer that started Feb 1st will apply to current subscribers? I am seriously thinking of switching to diretv if they won't give it to me.
