Wii Media Center take 2 (courtesy of Orb)
So you know how yesterday we were all excited about a program that lets you stream videos, pictures, and music from your PC to a Nintendo Wii or Sony PS3? Well, since the program's still an early alpha it doesn't exactly stream video yet, but it's getting there.
In the meantime, now that you can use the Opera web browser on a Wii, you can also use Orb on a Wii. That means you can access videos, pictures, and music stored on your computer, as well as video streams from the internet. There doesn't appear to be any way to display video full screen video just yet, but it's a pretty nifty way to show off what your Wii can do.
Overall the interface seems a little clunky, partly because you have to navigate the web browser with a Wiimote, but as you can see in this YouTube video, it still looks pretty cool.
In order to get this to work, you have to set the default player to Flash and check the option to open in a new Window.
Thanks to PVR Wire reader Leon for the tip.
