I love the new undelete and
recover features on TiVo. I find myself recovering episodes of shows I've already watched and viewing them again
(i.e., Cops). But the supposedly new and improved suggestions need some work. My TiVo is recording programs
that I've never watched and likely will never watch. For example, the Clemson Spring Preview Show. What's
that? Or how about Storybook Knits? And I've caught my TiVo at least once recording an informercial. An informercial? For the most part, though, my list of suggested programming is currently filled up with news talk shows and sports programming -- things I've watched while I've owned my TiVo. More than anything, the new suggestions upgrade is more aggressive in its recording of programs, whether you like what it's recording or not. It's recording about five times more shows than it used to record. This can be good or bad, depending on what it thinks you'd like to watch.

1. For now we only have 7.2.2 on our "new" (less than two weeks old) TiVo and the new Suggestions engine seems pretty nice, it records a lot more variety and so far at least (has had 7.2.2 for about a week) hasn't one anything boneheaded like record 7 consecutive episodes of the same program during a marathon like our older TiVo (with 7.2.1) does sometimes.
There are a couple of shows it records that aren't our tasted but there are quite a few that are, I'm pretty impressed especially since theis TiVo, being as new as it is has had MUCH less thumb training than our three year old unit.
As for informercials, one of the first things I did when we got the new unit was give all the shows I NEVER want to see three thumbs down, this includes anything remotely resembling an infomercial, anything involving pro wrestling or Nascar, Reality TV shows and the like, hasn't been a problem for us.
The 7.2.2 update does seem a bit slower, though it's hard to tell because the new unit (540080) has always been slow compared to our original (240080), except of course when 7.0 first rolled out and performance was glacially slow until TiVo fixed it.
